Nahan is a magnificent town surrounded by lush green forests and snow-capped mountain ranges. It is nestled on the Shivalik Hills in Himachal Pradesh. Nahan was founded by Raja Karan Prakash in 1621. He started a tradition of flying kites on Rakshabandhan festival, a tradition still followed. ‘Don’t Kill’ and the town probably takes its name from a historical incident, when a king was trying to kill a lion and the saint said Nahar, which meant do not kill it.
